[ubuntu] Wine Uninstalled but still showing on the program list

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=805698
Quote:
the reason those shortcuts don't get removed is because wine (not the actual program running under wine) created the shortcuts, and so the uninstaller (which is a windows program run through wine) doesn't really know where to remove them, and wine doesn't really keep track of them. To remove them from your start menu, right-click->edit menues (on the Applications/Places/System menu), go down to wine, and either uncheck (hide) or delete the unwanted shortcuts.

Gmail Not Working on Firefox with Adblock Plus

I had to go into the Adblock Plus (ABP) options [Tools > Adblock Plus Preferences] and under My Preferences I had to uncheck or delete the line for https://mail.google.com. Not sure why it did that, maybe it had something to do with the routing of Google traffic through Asia today?

Issues Noticed with Rise of Mankind 2 (RoM) mod for Civ4

* Workers build too many forts.
* Descriptions in Sevopedia are missing- specifically noticed terrain improvements like roads, rail, etc.
* After gaining new technology, some items don't have mouse over descriptions.

Will be added to later.

Setup: Fresh install of Windows XP Corporate SP2 without any addition security updates applied. VMware Workstation 6.5.2 Build 156735. UnHackMe 5.00.

MWSnap - Screen Capture Program

Screen Capture/Snapshot/Scrape = Saving an image of the screen for later use. Screen captures can be used for bug reporting, proof of accomplishment in games, showing others funny things found on the web (see FAIL Blog), in Trojans (the computer security exploit kind), and home security software.

I have a new favorite FREE MS Windows program for screen captures: MWSnap

MWSnap is a creation of Mirek Wojtowicz of Lublin, Poland. I don't know much more about the programmer so let us jump to the program.

I previously used either the Windows XP built-in screen capture program (Print Screen button) or AnalogX's Capture, also free, but I have moved to MWSnap because it has a LOT options. I also like the fact that it supports the PNG file format (better quality than JPG/JPEG at a lower size most of the time). I found MWSnap after a Google search led me to this page which has a nice listing of different screen capture programs and their features. It isn't Open Source but did I mention it is FREE of cost? :)

Below is a screen cap of MWSnap while I was using it to make screen caps. I am going to use these screen caps for a document about Installing Fedora 9 in VirtualBox.

MWSnap

MWSnap allows you to use shortcuts (like Ctrl+Alt+W to take a snapshot of the current window) or you can use the GUI like I am to get screen caps of VirtualBox since VB takes control of all keys if its window is selected.

McCain's Brain - Funny Politics Parody

One of the funniest political parodies I have seen this campaign. McCain makes some of the funniest faces- better than 'W'. Anyone else notice that the voice of the Brain, while belonging to a guy named Daniel, sound like Will Farrel of SNL? Also, some of the lines the Brain uses are very similar to ones that Will Farrel has used on SNL.

Nine Inch Nails Email Survey

I signed up for updates from Nine Inch Nails (NIN) a while back because they were giving away one of their albums (Ghosts I of Ghosts I-IV, I believe) and I just got an email from Trent today. I find it funny to see Trent using "pwn3d" in an email. :) I think I will skip the date with Jeordie White whether or not condoms are supplied- thanks anyways!

Message from Trent:

Hello everyone.
I'd like to thank everyone for a very successful year so far in the world of Nine Inch Nails. I'm enjoying my couple of weeks off between legs of our Lights In The Sky tour and got to thinking... "wouldn't it be fun to send out a survey to everyone that's shown interest in NIN?" Well, that's not exactly how it went, but regardless - here it is. As we've moved from the familiar world of record labels and BS into the unknown world of doing everything yourself, we've realized it would benefit us and our ability to interact with you if we knew more about what you want, what you like, what you look like naked, etc. I know it's a pain in the ass but we'd truly appreciate it if you'd take a minute and help us out. As an incentive, everyone who completes the survey will be able to download a video of live performance from this most recent tour (and I know what's going through your little minds right now: "I'll just grab this off a torrent site and not have to fill out the survey!!!" and guess what? You will be able to do just that and BEAT THE SYSTEM!!!! NIN=pwn3d!!!)
BUT
What if we were to select some of those that DO complete the survey and provide them with something really cool? I'm not saying we'll ever get around to it, but if we did maybe something like signed stuff, flying someone to a show somewhere in the world, a magic amulet that makes you invisible, a date with Jeordie White (condoms supplied of course), you know - something cool. See, you'd miss that opportunity AND be a cheater.
Do the right thing - help us out. You'll feel better.

Thank you and I've had too much caffeine this morning,
Trent
